HDTV Christmas Buyer’s Guide
HDGURU.Com: HDTV Christmas Buyer’s Guide and Recommended Models.
Very detailed look at HDTVs, LCD and Plasma, sizes, features, etc… I have people ask me all the time about these and I’m never sure what to say. I only own a little Sharp 32″ that’s almost 3 years old. My main TV is still a Sony HDTV tube and we also have a larger Samsung projection that is owned by the guy we lease the house from.

My rule of thumb is 1080p, 120 Hz, and the higher the dynamic contrast ratio the better.

One of the best reviewed 120hz models I’ve found is the Samsung LN40A650, and Crutchfield, Amazon, and Newegg all have it for between $1300 and $1400 right now, free shipping.

Amend the above to read “the best reviewed one that I just bought”…

That’s the 50″? Very nice!

Actually the 40″. My tv armoire won’t hold anything bigger. 1080p, 120hz, 50000-ish contrast ratio, usb input, RSS feeds…lots of goodness.

Seems like the contrast ratio on my 42″ was like 1:1000000. I know I didn’t think they went that high before I bought it.
