Review: Uni-ball Signo DX
I’ve been buying lots of pens lately so I decided I should start posting some reviews. First a little bit about what I like in a pen. I prefer a pen with a little weight. I prefer gel ink to ball point and don’t use fountain pens at all. I prefer small tips, much smaller than what is available at your local Wal-Mart, but not the smallest stuff you can get from a place like JetPens (Which is where I buy all my pens). I write with blue ink 90% of the time. When I buy a nice black pen I usually buy a blue refill at the same time and never use the black. I just like blue ink. I buy pencils too but don’t use them much. It’s just habit since I got started buying pens back in high school and college when I became addicted to buying mechanical pencils.
Today I’ll be reviewing the Uni-ball Signo DX UM-151 Gel Pens 0.38mm or more specifically the 8 color set of this pen. I received them from JetPens last Tuesday and have been using them (mostly blue) all week. It’s got a great feel in the hand. The weight is good for a pen this size, the grip does what it’s supposed to do, and the barrel is a little bigger than a normal gel ink pen. It’s very smooth with a thin tip, not something that’s easy to pull off. All A+ qualities in a pen by me, which is why it is likely to become my new daily driver. Currently that’s a Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Ink Pens with Grip in 0.4mm. Since that pen is only available in black, blue, and red, the variety of colors available with the Signo DX also makes it a winner.
Of the 8 colors, the only one I can’t see myself using is pink. It comes out looking bright bright red but after a minute or two settles to perfectly pink, not my cup of tea. The purple is dark, light blue still dark enough to use on white paper, and orange and green useful when you’re taking notes and need to make something stand out.
Here’s a sample of the 8 colors on Levenger Circa Full Page 1/4 Grid. Click through for a larger look.

I hope to post 1 or 2 of these reviews a week. I’ve got some Levenger stuff I would like to review and lots of pens laying all about the place. Also, just got a new mouse from Microsoft that’s begging for a review after I’ve used it for a week or 2. Loving it so far but I’ve only had it a day.

What, you don't like pink? Madness!
I like your explanation of what you like in a pen before you start your review – makes it easier to relate to what you're saying, because then I can compare it to my own preferences!
